SMART GRID PRODUCT
TESTING & CERTIFICATION

Smart Grid was raised because of the concern of environmental preservation. Every developed country is trying to get rid of the power plants that cost high energy and high pollution step by step; instead of using those power plants, integrating low-pollution power facilities and changing the way uses power is getting popular, also stimulating the concept of Smart Grid.

The key to Smart Grid is its function “bi-directional communication.” Power utility uses remote monitoring/control system to monitor the power using status, and to control electricity distribution. Besides, users can understand their condition of power use, and adjust the way of power use to save electricity and money.

In the frame of Smart Grid, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is the most crucial element. AMI is composed of a smart power meter, information management software for bi-directional communication network & data analysis, a circuit protection scheme, and an automatic meter reading center. Every industry is expanding its product line into the frame of Smart Grid aggressively in Taiwan; however, all testing works are controlled by multi-national laboratories. Bureau Veritas now provides the specific EMC testing capacity for Smart Grid related equipment.
