60 Day Notice Summary for Q1 2024

Enforcement Trends

  • The product category with the highest number of notices was food and herbal supplements, which accounted for 33% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 345 for lead, 50 for cadmium, 39 for two or more metals, 3 for Mercury, 1 for arsenic, 1 for PFOA/PFNA and 1 for PFOS.
  • Chemical Trends:
    • 52% of all notices were for metals: 591 for lead, 52 for cadmium, 39 for two or more metals, 5 for mercury and 1 for arsenic.
    • 16% of all notices were for phthalates. 151 were for DEHP, 25 for DINP, 14 for DBP, 21 for two or more phthalates, and 2 for DIDP. The notices covered a range of products.
  • Additional PFAS note: There were 40 notices for PFOA, 3 for PFOS, 2 for PFNA and 1 for more than one PFAS. These were related to many types of products, including but not limited to: Shower curtains/caps, jackets, panty liners, gloves and umbrellas.
