CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Infant Bath Tubs

Jun. 24 2022

On Friday June 24, 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1234, Safety Standard for Infant Bath Tubs. 16 CFR Part 1234 will now reference ASTM F2670-22, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bath Tubs as mandatory with no modifications.

The previous version of the 16 CFR 1234 referenced the ASTM F2670-18 with no modifications. The F2670-22 version includes a revised introduction statement, a revision to the requirements for latching and locking mechanisms, the inclusion of battery operated product markings, plus additional editorial changes.

This Direct Final Rule will become effective September 24, 2022 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments by July 25, 2022.
