Challenge

The ZDHC MRSL changed the game: it restricts hazardous substances at the source—in chemical formulations used during manufacturing—not just in finished products. Clean inputs deliver clean outputs.

Today's buyers demand proof of ZDHC alignment across products, systems, and processes. Yet many see certification as an all-or-nothing investment that's complex and costly.

Our Solutions: Flexible ZDHC MRSL Certification by Level

Bureau Veritas is a ZDHC Approved MRSL Certifier offering all three conformance levels—individually or combined.  Choose the pathway that matches your current capabilities and market requirements.

Level 1 – Analytical Testing & SDS Review

Level 1 is the basic conformance level. Chemical formulations undergo testing against ZDHC MRSL requirements using strategic screening methodologies that reduce testing costs without compromising compliance verification.

Level 2 – On-site Assessment of Management System

Level 2 is a higher level of conformance. In addition to meeting Level 1 requirements, on-site audits evaluate Environmental Management System (EMS), Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), Quality Management System (QMS), Chemical Management System (CMS), and executive commitment to safer chemistry.

Level 3 – On-site Assessment of Chemical Hazard Assessment Capability

Level 3 is the highest level of conformance. In addition to meeting Level 2 requirements, on-site audits assess the formulator’s chemical hazard assessment capability, including the ability to evaluate chemical hazards and maintain expertise in chemical safety.
