ISTA Testing
ISTA® or International Safe Transit Association is a standards and certification organization. Since 2014, ISTA has been recognized by the American National Standards Institute’s (ANSI) Executive Standards Council (ExSC) as an ANSI Accredited Standards Developer. As the industry leader in the development of pre-shipment performance testing protocols for packaged products ISTA testing procedures are widely used as validation methods for a wide range of products, testing programs, and industries.
Bureau Veritas is an ISTA certified Transport Testing Laboratory and offers evaluations within the following ISTA performance testing categories:
-
1 Series: Non-Simulation Integrity Performance Tests
Challenge the integrity of the product and package combination. Useful as screening tests but not designed to simulate environmental occurrences.
-
2 Series: Partial Simulation Performance Tests
More thorough screening test useful for refining preliminary designs. Not intended to be predictive of shipping performance.
-
3 Series: General Simulation Performance Tests
Provide a simulation of the damage-producing motions, forces, conditions, and sequences of transport environments. Useful as a predictive tool to understand risk of damage.
-
4 Series: Enhanced Simulation Performance Tests
Customizing test plans that closely tie the tests and sequence to a user-defined pattern of distribution environment hazards.
-
6 Series: Specialized Test Protocols
Created by an ISTA member or in cooperation with ISTA to establish unique requirements or to reflect their particular conditions of distribution. Useful in evaluating the effectiveness of packaging against hazards represented in their supply chain.
