What is the Social & Labor Convergence Program (SLCP)?

The SLCP is a multi-stakeholder initiative that brings together brands, retailers, manufacturers, and other industry stakeholders to create a more efficient and effective approach to social auditing. It aims to develop and implement an industry-wide Converged Assessment Framework (CAF). The CAF efficiently collects social and labor data to support stakeholders in improving working conditions in global supply chains. Compared to other compliance audits, the Framework is standard-neutral, meaning it collects factory performance data in a consistent and reliable method, thus enabling data sharing and comparison across brands and organizations. It applies to the sectors of apparel, footwear, outdoor, home textile products, and more.

The SLCP Assessment Process:

The SLCP assessment process involves several key phases:

Data Collection: The company completes a self or joint assessment with an external partner using the standardized CAF data collection tool.
Data Verification: Bureau Veritas, as an authorized SLCP verifying body, reviews the collected data and conducts an on-site verification to confirm its accuracy.
Data Sharing: Once verified, the data is uploaded onto the SLCP Gateway, a secure platform, where it can be shared with the company's chosen business partners and other accredited organizations, upon the company's approval.

SLCP Assessment Rating Standard and Validity Frequency:

It's important to note that verifiers like Bureau Veritas do not score or analyze the data. Instead, they confirm its accuracy and correctness. This validates that the data remains neutral and objective, meeting the specific needs of different stakeholders who utilize it.

Validity and Frequency:

The typical timeframe for an SLCP verification is 12 months.
There is no mandatory validity period for the verification, as it's determined by individual members.
The SLCP verification operates on a rolling cycle, meaning there are no strict deadlines, and assessments can be completed throughout the year. However, once a facility completes its self or joint assessment, the SLCP verification must occur within 2 months.
