The Industrial Chemicals Environmental Management (Register) Amendment (2026 Measures No. 1) Instrument 2026, issued by Australia's DCCEEW in June 2026, adds multiple chemicals and chemical groups to the IChEMS Register established under the Industrial Chemicals Environmental Management (Register) Instrument 2022.
Requirement Summary and Effective Dates:
In accordance with Schedule 6 regarding relevant industrial chemicals that are likely to cause serious or irreversible harm to the environment with essential uses, the list of time-limited essential uses for UV-328 has been amended;
Following the requirements in Schedule 7—Relevant industrial chemicals that are likely to cause serious or irreversible harm to the environment with no essential uses, the following PFAS substances will be added: Perfluoroheptanesulfonic acid (PFHpS), Perfluorononanesulfonic acid (PFNS), and Perfluorodecanesulfonic acid (PFDS). Remark:
Schedules 2–5 classify industrial chemicals, providing a framework for regulatory authorities to manage these chemicals in a tiered manner is also having the update but only for substance and mixture, not involve article, please refer to the official link for more details of the update as reference.
UV-328 (UV Stabilizer): The UV Stabilizers used to absorb UV light. This protects paints, plastics, coatings, adhesives, etc. and thus stabilizes them to UV light or natural sunlight.
PFAS: Products treated with PFAS exhibit stain and oil-resistant properties, or possess water-resistant, water-repellent, and waterproof functions.
