Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (Bureau Veritas) – leaders in testing, inspection/audit, advisory and certification services – have announced a new collaboration with CommonShare to provide their protocol and software solution for complete Bill-of-Material, Purchase Order level traceability as part of total traceability solutions for Bureau Veritas clients.
CommonShare has a unique model providing a protocol and software solution for building resilient, sustainable, and transparent supply chains.
Bureau Veritas brings increased global scale and reach to CommonShare thanks to their leadership position within the retail / consumer goods marketplace, while CommonShare’s expertise and experience in origin mapping provide a new tool for BV to add to its comprehensive product offering.
The collaboration with CommonShare means Bureau Veritas clients will also be able to incorporate a traceability SAAS solution in conjunction with Bureau Veritas’ traceability services including:

A corrective action plan is set up to help facilities who do not achieve an acceptable score within the Material Traceability Audit.
Production Verification – Periodic unannounced visits to manufacturing sites during scheduled productions to verify that quantities of materials, work in process, and finished goods are supported by adequate traceability records which are consistent with information reported through CommonShare.
Chain of Custody and Claim Verification – Detailed evaluation of all documentation supporting chain of custody and any material claims.
This collaboration between Bureau Veritas and CommonShare means that customers can meet all their compliance and voluntary traceability and supply chain mapping needs with confidence.
Rajan Kamalanathan, Vice President for Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services
"We are very pleased to add CommonShare to the array of tools that we use to design solutions for our clients traceability challenges.”
“ In this day and age plausible deniability is no longer an effective response to the questions of who, what, where, and when. Companies must have full view of their entire supply chain and be able to answer questions within minutes not days. CommonShare provides the protocol to collect and organize information at the bill-of-material and purchase order level focusing on the entire product and not just a single material or fiber. This approach allows our clients to meet the traceability related challenges posed by current and future legislation related to forced labor, deforestation, and sustainability in a single platform. A decentralized platform for collaborative compliance combined with Bureau Veritas expertise in supply chain verification offers an unparalleled solution for efficient supply chain monitoring and optimization."
Martin Smith – Founder and CEO, CommonShare
“At CommonShare, we believe mainstreaming sustainable procurement requires building interoperable solutions that work for both companies and their value chains. Our partnership combines Bureau Veritas' extensive reach and trusted authority in verification services with the most efficient, interoperable, and collaborative compliance tool on the market. Rather than prepare companies for one regulation, our combined solution provides granular data and analysis that will help clients meet the challenges of any current or future traceability regulation. As important, companies will be able to meet both their decarbonization targets and overall sustainability goals far more quickly."
