Bureau Veritas certified the first IoT Chipset according to GCF Rules

Mar. 4 2020

Bureau Veritas announces its wireless laboratory in Germany has performed the first IoT chipset certification for u-blox’s IoT chipset UBX-R5 covering NB-IoT and LTE-M.

This new IoT chipset certification allows the IoT ecosystem to easily integrate and embed the certified chipset UBX-R5 into modules and devices. With GCF IoT chipset certification of UBX-R5, Bureau Veritas confirmed a level of confidence, which the chipset integrators can rely on for their IoT devices certification.

The Global Certification Forum (GCF) is an independent certification scheme for mobile phones and wireless devices that are based on 3GPP standards. GCF IoT chipset certification initiative is an extension of the existing IoT platforms and IoT modules program.

As a global provider in wireless testing and certification services, Bureau Veritas supported our partner u-blox during the product certification life with integration and support of test specifications and test cases analysis. We can provide certification of the u-blox chipset based on GCF’s new requirements.

With the largest network of suitably equipped laboratories in North America, Europe and Asia, Bureau Veritas can assist clients with GCF certification via conformance testing, radiated performance tests (OTA), interoperability testing, field trials, smartphone testing and more. Our tests address all technologies, including Cat-M, NB-IoT, 5G, LTE, 3G, 2G, MMS, DM, SUPL and UICC.
