Bureau Veritas empowers Leading Apparel Supplier in achieving SBTi Approval, setting a New Benchmark for Low-Carbon Transformation

Dec. 3 2025

Bureau Veritas is pleased to announce that, with comprehensive professional support, a key supplier to major international sports and apparel brands has secured approval of its science-based carbon reduction targets (SBTi). This achievement positions the manufacturer as a new benchmark for low-carbon transition in the textile industry and sets a strong example for value chain sustainability.

In response to increasingly stringent decarbonization requirements from global brands, the manufacturer leveraged Bureau Veritas’ end-to-end suite of sustainability services to bring its emissions reduction strategy in line with international climate goals.

Bureau Veritas guided the company to establish near-term, scientifically robust decarbonization targets at the group level. In the course of carbon accounting, the supplier incorporated 100% recycled yarn as part of its raw materials. Bureau Veritas utilized the Higg MSI database to build an emissions model tailored to the client’s actual production processes, providing accurate insights and enabling the development of SBTi-compliant targets. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for the manufacturer’s ongoing and future carbon management practices.

Advancing Supplier–Brand Collaboration in Climate Action

This SBTi approval milestone represents more than an individual supplier’s achievement—it is the result of a collaborative Supplier Engagement Program jointly developed by Bureau Veritas and our brand client. Through this partnership, Bureau Veritas was appointed as the strategic solutions provider to connect the brand’s climate ambitions with the implementation capabilities of its key suppliers in Asia. Bureau Veritas helps brands accelerate their climate action by equipping suppliers with the practical tools, guidance, and support needed to establish and achieve credible decarbonization targets—turning supplier commitments into measurable progress across the value chain.

Implementation Insights from Our Team

Drawing on years of supply chain collaboration, we’ve learned that progress requires tailored, transparent solutions—whether clients are just beginning their journey or advancing ambitious climate strategies, we adapt our approach to fit their specific readiness and goals.

From our experience working across supply chains in China, we have observed that most manufacturers start their target-setting journey reactively—juggling shifting brand expectations and increasingly complex regulations, often before their internal systems are ready to support climate action. Every step, from measuring emissions to defining practical targets, presents a challenge—regardless of company size or experience.

To support our clients through these challenges, we provide integrated solutions: robust GHG accounting and verification, technical training, targeted kick-off communications, and practical decarbonization planning tailored to each facility’s readiness. Leveraging industry-leading resources, footprint and experience in the field, we help brands and their suppliers move from talking about climate action to long-term climate action. By combining global insight and local collaboration at every stage, from strategy building and data capture to solution pilot and implementation, and making complex data and insight fully actionable across the value chain.

We believe getting started is essential. Ultimately, meaningful decarbonization comes from collective efforts—and the biggest impact begins when organizations take that first step together across the value chain.
