Bureau Veritas’ Travis Norton Named Chairman of ASTM F15.75 Subcommittee on Connected Products
June 2023 – Bureau Veritas is pleased to announce that Travis Norton, Director, Technical and Information Services, has been named chairman of the ASTM F15.75 Subcommittee on Connected Products.
The ASTM F15.75 Subcommittee on Connected Products is responsible for creating the ASTM F3463-21 Standard Guide for Ensuring the Safety of Connected Consumer Products which provides guidance for connected consumer products (or Internet of Things (IoT) consumer devices) as it relates to physical product safety hazards created by virtue of their connectivity. It applies to connected products that need testing and evaluation to prevent cybersecurity vulnerabilities and weaknesses that could compromise the safety-related performance of the product, create a physical safety hazard in the product or its operation, or result in a noncompliance to the underlying end product safety standard.
Travis has been with Bureau Veritas for over 20 years. In his current role, Travis is responsible for leading and managing a technical consultation team. He is an ASTM member, participating on committees F38 for unmanned aircraft systems, F12 for security systems, D13 for textiles on the D13.50 ‘smart textiles’ committee, and F15 for consumer products, including the F15.75 committee.
