60 Day Notice Summary for Q2 2024

Enforcement Trends

  • The product category with the highest number of notices was Beauty/Personal Care/Hygiene/Cosmetics/Sanitizer, which accounted for 36% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 427 for diethanolamine, 43 for Titanium dioxide (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size), 22 for coconut oil diethanolamine condensate (cocamide diethanolamine),
    4 for DEHP, 2 for lead, 1 for DINP, 1 for 1,4-Dioxane, 1 for benzophenone and 1 for PFOA.
  • Chemical Trends:
    • 47% of all notices were for metals: 548 for lead, 63 for cadmium, 43 for two or more metals, and 12 for mercury.
    • 32% of all notices were for diethanolamine.
  • Additional PFAS note: There were 33 notices for PFOA, 1 for PFOS, and 1 for more than one PFAS. These were related to many types of products, including but not limited to: apparel, furniture and food & herbal supplements.
