Enforcement Trends
- The product category with the highest number of notices was Beauty/Personal Care/Hygiene/Cosmetics/Sanitizer, which accounted for 28% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 377 for diethanolamine/coconut oil diethanolamine condensate (cocamide diethanolamine), 3 for Titanium dioxide (airborne, unbound particles of respirable size), 2 for phthalates, 2 for benzophenone, 2 for PFOA and 2 for Benzophenone and 1 for lead.
- Food and herbal supplements accounted for 27% of all notices this quarter.
- Chemical Trends:
- 43% of all notices were for metals: 494 for lead, 3 for arsenic, 3 for cadmium, 59 for two or more metals, and 2 for mercury.
- 27% of all notices were for diethanolamine/coconut oil diethanolamine condensate (cocamide diethanolamine).
- Additional PFAS note: There were 60 notices for PFOA. These were related to many types of products, including but not limited to: apparel, backpacks and dietary supplements.
