Enforcement Trends
• The product category with the highest number of notices was Food & Herbal Supplements, which accounted for 43% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 492 for lead, 54 for cadmium, 56 for two or more chemicals, 28 for aflatoxins/retinol, 6 for one or more PFAS chemical (PFOA/PFOS/PFNA), 8 for BPA, and 2 for arsenic.
• Bisphenols S (BPS) in receipt paper and stickers accounted for 33% of all notices this quarter.
• Chemical Trends:
o 47% of all notices were for metals: 716 for lead, 55 for cadmium, 57 for two or more metals, 8 for chromium
(hexavalent compounds) and 1 for mercury.
o 9% of all notices were for phthalates.
• Additional PFAS note: There were 71 notices for PFOA/PFOS/PFNA.
