Enforcement Trends
- The product category with the highest number of notices was Food & Herbal Supplements which accounted for 38% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 316 for lead, 72 for cadmium, 70 for two or more metals, 3 for mercury, 2 for BPA, 2 for pulegone, 5 for PFOA and 1 for two or more PFAS.
- Beauty/Personal Care/Hygiene/Cosmetics/Sanitizers accounted for 18% of all notices this quarter.
- Chemical Trends:
- 48% of all notices were for metals: 451 for lead, 73 for cadmium, 70 for two or more metals, and 3 for mercury.
- 18% of all notices were for diethanolamine/coconut oil diethanolamine condensate (cocamide diethanolamine).
- Additional PFAS note: There were 80 notices for PFOA. These were related to a range of products.
