California Proposition 65 Settlements

The following is a summary of California Proposition 65 settlements recently finalized that involve consumer products in Q2, 2025.

Requirements for New Settlements:

Pillow

  • Less than 100 ppm (0.01%) of total fluorine, if exceed, further testing conduct for PFOA (#1)

Generator cover 

  • Less than 100 ppm (0.01%) of total fluorine, if exceed, further testing conduct for PFOA (#1)

Ironing board pad 

  • Less than 100 ppm (0.01%) of total fluorine, if exceed, further testing conduct for PFOA (#1)

Changing pad

  • Less than 100 ppm (0.01%) of total fluorine, if exceed, further testing conduct for PFOA (#1)

String light

  • No more than 100 mg/kg (0.01%) of Lead
  • Or utilize a warning statement

Dash cameras with polymer suction cup

  • No more than 1000 mg/kg (0.1%) of DEHP
  • Or utilize a warning statement

Solar figure

  • No more than 1000 mg/kg (0.1%) of DEHP
  • Or utilize a warning statement

Outdoor lighting

  • No more than 1000 mg/kg (0.1%) of DEHP
  • Reformulation is required

Children’s foam-containing product

  • No more than 5 mg/kg (0.0005%) of TDCPP and TCEP (#2)
  • No more than 1 mg/kg (0.0001%) of TDBPP (#2)
  • Or utilize a warning statement

Update current criteria by additional settlements:

Fabric tablecloths

  • Less than 100 ppm (0.01%) of total fluorine, if exceed, further testing conduct for PFOA (#1)
  • Do not test plastic or vinyl tablecloths

    Changes: Revised the scope of fabric tablecloths

Hook, wall hanger, fastener, surface bolt, hardware accessories and hand tools

  • No more than 90 ppm (0.009%) of Lead
  • Produce a result of 1.0 micrograms or less lead in Ghost WipeTM test

    Changes: Added the scope of hardware accessories and hand tools

Galvanized products, brass and bronze hardware and household products, and 
painted drinking glassware

  • No more than 300 ppm (0.03%) of Lead
  • Or utilize a warning statement

    Changes: Changed scope to galvanized products, brass and bronze hardware and household products, and painted drinking glassware

Key holders/caps and jewelry 

  • No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) of DEHP, DBP and BBP

    Changes: Added new settlement citation

Suction cup

  • No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) of DEHP, DBP and BBP

    Changes: Added a new settlement

Cosmetic and personal care products with DEA

Changes: Added scope of cosmetics and personal care products

Cosmetic and personal care products containing triethanolamine (TEA)

Changes: Added scope of cosmetics and personal care products


Remarks
#1 PFOA (BV reporting limit is 0.01 ppm)
