China Market Updates: New Substances and Materials Safe for Food Contact Use Approved by National Health Commission

The National Health Commission (NHC) of China announced new food ingredients and related products (including food contact materials and additives) that been evaluated and approved in the notification in August 2023. This update lists three new food contact resins and additives

1. Expanded scope of additives for food contact materials and products.

C.I. pigment black 28 CAS No.: 68186-91-4	Paint and coating	Maximum amount of usage / % 15% (dry weight)	It shall meet the purity requirements about colourant according to annex A of GB 9685, manganese content shall not exceed 100 mg/kg; SML of copper and manganese shall meet annex C of GB 9685. Such restrictive conditions shall be labelled according to GB 4806.1.

2. New resins for food contact materials and products.

Such restrictive conditions shall be labelled according to GB 4806.1.
