China Product Standard GB/T 22849-2024 Knitted T-shirt Recently Published

China standard GB/T 22849-2024 Knitted T-shirt has been published. It is not applicable to products for infants aged 0-36 months. It will be effective on Oct 1, 2024 and replacing the 2014 edition. In comparison to GB/T 22849-2014, major technical parameter changes are the following:

In comparison to 2014 version, 2024 version has the following additions:
1. Definition of Fluorescence color.
2. Product size labeling for the sizes beyond the standard range shall be increased or decreased in specific increments in principle specified in the standard.
3. Add requirements of dimensional stability to dry-cleaning, colorfastness to dry-cleaning, appearance after dry-cleaning and washing solution staining upon colorfastness to washing test:

4. Requirements for children’s knitted T-shirts include those specified in GB 31701.
5. Added a remark for colorfastness to washing/ water/ perspiration/ rubbing. These requirements are not applicable to natural color (undyed) and bleached products.
6. Added a remark for colorfastness to light: For product in fluorescence color product, the requirement of colorfastness to light for pass grade could be half a grade lower than this standard.
7. Added a remark for pilling: Not applicable to hollow-out products in addition to those exempted in 2014 version.
8. Children’s products labeling shall comply with GB/T 5296.4 and GB 31701.
9. Added criteria of batch and single piece inspection.

In comparison to 2014 version, 2024 version has the following deletions:
1. Removed the requirements of colorfastness to washing and colorfastness to rubbing for printing.
2. Removed the test method for colorfastness to transfer in joints (GB/T 22849-2014 Annex A).

In comparison to 2014 version, 2024 version has the following modifications:
