China Standard GB/T 29862-2026 Textiles-Technical Specification for Identification of Fiber Content Published

GB/T 29862-2026 Textiles-Technical specification for identification of fiber content was issued on July 2, 2026. The standard will be effective on August 1, 2027, replacing GB/T 29862-2013 Textiles – Identification of Fiber Content.

The standard specifies the labelling, marking and tolerance requirements for fiber content of textile products, as well as test methods and conformity assessment. In addition to structural and editorial revisions, the key technical changes are as follows:

I. Key Changes

1. Added the term “label” and revised the definitions of “textile product” and “permanent label”.
2. Removed labeling requirements for sets of products whose components have different fiber contents and sets of products with the same fiber content but sold separately.
3. Replaced the requirement that “information on the label shall not be covered or concealed” with “information on the label shall be clearly identifiable.”
4. Added a requirement that product labeling cannot rely solely on digital formats.
5. Added labeling requirements for recycled fibers, as well as specific naming requirements for different types of down and feathers.
6. Revised the ways of fiber content disclosing for products containing linings.
7. Revised the provisions regarding combined fiber content declarations for patchwork fabrics.
8. Revised the terminology and labeling requirements for reinforcement fibers.
9. Added labeling ways for products containing:
   1. coated fibers,
   2. bicomponent fibers, and
   3. recycled fibers.
10. Added test methods for determining fiber content.
11. Revised the conformity assessment provisions by replacing “determination of compliance of fiber content labeling” with two separate categories:
    1. non-compliance of fiber content labeling, and
    2. non-compliance due to fiber content deviation.
