China State Administration for Market Regulation Published Results of 2021 National Market Surveillance on Food Contact Product Quality

Recently China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published 2021 market surveillance results regarding food related products including infant’s plastic feeding bottles, etc. The market surveillance was conducted based on mandatory standards, some applicable product standards had also been included for qualification. Meanwhile this notification also provided status of national market surveillance in recent 3 years for same products category, and provided primary reasons of the product quality failures. This document summarizes the statistics of food contact products inspection in 2021.
Totally 1,172 batches of products from 1,170 enterprises were inspected. 5 batches were suspected of having production out of the licensed scope or production without a license. 1,167 batches of products from 1,165 enterprises were examined, 59 batches were found non-compliant, and the non-compliance rate is 5.1%. The overall failure rate of food related products in recent three years are 4.9%, 4.3%, 5.1%.
65 enterprises whose products failed in last year’s market surveillance were inspected for the follow up actions, 18 of them were still found with non-compliant products.
