CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Baby Changing Products

On Tuesday April 26, 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1235, Safety Standard for Baby Changing Products. 16 CFR Part 1235 will now reference ASTM F2388-21, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Baby Changing Products for Domestic Use as mandatory with no modifications. 

The previous version of the 16 CFR 1235 referenced the ASTM F2388-18 with no modifications. The F2388-21 version includes revised warning language plus additional editorial revisions. 

This Direct Final Rule will become effective July 31, 2022 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments by May 26, 2022.
