On Friday, December 8, 2023, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a Supplemental Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (SNPR) to amend 16 CFR 1110.
Public comment period is open until February 6, 2024.
If you are not familiar with the specifics of Electronic Filing (eFiling) of Certificates of Conformity (COC), please review them before the deadline to submit comments. The CPSC eFiling site has various videos and a full document library outlining details of the data and system requirements. This includes an ‘eFiling Participant Standard Operating Procedures Guide’ outlining each step (including those that are manual). The link for this site is: https://www.cpsc.gov/eFiling
The CPSC is hosting a listening session for eFiling Beta Pilot Participants on January 25. Details regarding this call are found on the CPSC Calendar Events: CPSC eFiling Listening Session for Beta Pilot Participants
Other notable updates included in the SNPR include but are not limited to additional COC elements (such as manufacturer email and phone number, attestation language), record keeping requirements, responsible parties for certification and a 120 days implementation period for eFiling.
