NEWMOA Drafts PFAS Model Legislation – Seeks Comments
Northeast Waste Management Officials’ Association (NEWMOA), an interstate group of environmental protection agencies that addresses environmental issues such as pollution, toxic use reduction and sustainability, has drafted PFAS prevention legislation for per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in consumer products. The purpose is to use this document as a model for states thinking about regulating PFAS use. The model lays out several areas such as reporting, disclosure and labeling, as well as restrictions of PFAS.
A webinar and presentation on the draft is available on the NEWMOA site, as well as how to submit comments. Comments are due by June 29, 2023.
