Results of 2020 National Market Surveillance on Food Contact Product Quality in China Market
 

Recently China State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) published some results of the 2020 market surveillance, covering various products sold in China market. The market surveillance was conducted based on mandatory standards, some applicable product standards had also been included for qualification. For example, qualification of domestic porcelain ware also covered thermal shock, etc. that from certain product standards in addition to GB 4806.4-2016. Below summarized the statistics of food-related products (primarily food contact products) inspection in 2020, followed by notifications released from January to April of 2021. 

In 2020, totally 17968 batches of products that produced by 16792 enterprises were inspected in China by SAMR, among them products of 1798 batches from 1729 enterprises were found being non-compliant. The non-compliance rate is 10.0%. Of which containing 22 categories of food-related products that were 2677 batches inspected from 2662 enterprises. The non-compliance rate is 4.3%, which decreased by 0.6% in comparison with 2019.
