Turkey New Labeling Requirements for Consumer Products Containing Parts of Animal Origin

Jun. 20 2025

Effective June 9, the Turkish Department of Commerce will implement Official Gazette Notification No. 32865, which mandates new labeling requirements for consumer products containing parts of animal origin. Consumer products apply to various items but are not limited to textiles, gloves, shoes, bags, wallets, belts, watches, stationery, furniture, carpets and toys.

Under the new regulations, consumer products containing animal-derived components must include information on the label, packaging, or accompanying documentation about the specific animal the part was obtained from. This requirement also applies to sales and marketing conducted through remote communication channels, where the animal origin details must be provided in the area where the product features are specified.

The information covered by this regulation must be presented in Turkish, in a clear and visible manner that does not mislead consumers.
