On Monday May 4, 2026, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule (DFR) for 16 CFR Part 1219, Safety Standard for Full-Size Baby Cribs. 16 CFR Part 1219 will now reference ASTM F1169-25, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Full-Size Baby Cribs as mandatory with no modifications.
The previous version of 16 CFR 1219 referenced the ASTM F1169-19 as mandatory with no modifications. The F1169-25 version added requirements for mesh-fabric sided products, added requirements for protective components and bassinet/cradle accessories, added some new warnings and a few other editorial changes.
This Direct Final Rule will become effective August 1, 2026 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments by June 3, 2026.
