U.S. CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Infant Bath Seats

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1215, Safety Standard for Infant Bath Seats. 16 CFR Part 1215 will now reference ASTM F1967-24, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bath Seats as mandatory with no modifications.


The previous version of 16 CFR 1215 referenced the ASTM F1967-19 as mandatory with no modifications. The F1967-24 version includes a modified piece of test equipment, a clarification on how to perform the stability test, plus other editorial changes.


This Direct Final Rule will become effective January 4, 2025 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments by November 8, 2024.
