U.S. CPSC Publishes Direct Final Rule for Infant Bouncer Seats

On Tuesday September 6, 2022, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule for 16 CFR Part 1229, Safety Standard for Infant Bouncer Seats. 16 CFR Part 1229 will now reference ASTM F2167-22, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Infant Bouncer Seats as mandatory with no modifications. 

The previous version of the 16 CFR 1229 referenced the ASTM F2167-19 with no modifications. The F2167-22 version includes a revision to the fall hazard and suffocation hazard warning language plus other editorial changes. 

This Direct Final Rule will become effective December 19, 2022 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments by October 6, 2022.
