On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff published within the Federal Register a Direct Final Rule (DFR) for 16 CFR Part 1238, Safety Standard for Stationary Activity Centers. 16 CFR Part 1238 will now reference ASTM F2012-24, Standard Consumer Safety Performance Specification for Stationary Activity Centers as mandatory with no modifications.
The previous version of 16 CFR 1238 referenced the ASTM F2012-18e1 as mandatory with no modifications. The 2024 version of the F2012 includes the addition of a required telephone number for the producers markings declaration, revised warning label examples, plus other editorial revisions.
This Direct Final Rule will become effective July 5, 2025 unless the CPSC receives any significant or adverse comments by April 28, 2025.
