Enforcement Trends
• The product category with the highest number of notices was Food (including alcoholic beverages) & Herbal Supplements, which accounted for 64% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 219 for lead, 161 for cadmium, 93 for two or more chemicals, 18 for one or more PFAS chemical (PFOA/PFOS/PFNA), 6 for ethyl alcohol in alcoholic beverages, 4 for mercury and 2 for BPA/BPS.
• Bags/Cases/Purses/Pouches/Kits/Backpacks/Totes accounted for 9% of all notices this quarter.
• Chemical Trends:
o 70% of all notices were for metals: 769 for lead, 162 for cadmium, 95 for two or more metals, and 5 for mercury.
o 11% of all notices were for phthalates.
• Additional PFAS note: There were 42 notices for PFOA/PFOS/PFNA.
