Enforcement Trends
- The product category with the highest amount of notices was food and herbal supplements, which accounted for 35% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were for: 269 for lead, 32 for two or more metals, 27 for cadmium, 4 for mercury and 3 for other chemicals.
- The product category with the second highest number of notices was Bag/Case/Purse/Pouch/Kit/Backpack/Tote, which accounted for 10% of all notices.
- Chemical Trend: 56% of all notices were for metals: 488 for lead, 32 for cadmium, 37 for two or more metals, and 2 for arsenic.
- 22% of all notices were for phthalates: 151 were for DEHP, 33 for DINP, 20 for DBP, one for DIDP, and 15 for two or more phthalates. The notices covered a range of products.
- Additional note: there were 8 Notices for PFOA/PFOS, however, they were for companies for “discharges into sources of drinking water”, not for specific products.
