60 Day Notice Summary for Q4 2023

Enforcement Trends

  • The product category with the highest number of notices was unleaded gasoline (wholly vaporized), which accounted for 34% of all notices.
  • The product category with the second highest amount of notices was food and herbal supplements, which accounted for 33% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were for: 255 for lead, 44 for two or more metals, 27 for cadmium, 5 for arsenic and 1 for PFOS.
  • Chemical Trend: 43% of all notices were for metals: 352 for lead, 38 for two or more metals, 27 for cadmium, 6 for mercury and 5 for arsenic.
  • 18% of all notices were for phthalates. 120 were for DEHP, 28 for DINP, 5 for DBP, 5 for DIDP, and 23 for two or more phthalates. The notices covered a range of products.
  • Additional note: There were 10 notices for PFOA and/or PFOS, related to many types of products, including but not limited to: bibs, hats, grill covers and drinking water.
