In response to a color additive petition, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is revoking the authorization of Red 3 in food, including dietary supplements, and ingested drug products.
Manufacturers will have until January 15, 2027 to reformulate food and dietary supplements products and January 18, 2028 to reformulate ingested drug products.

Reminder: California AB 418 prohibits Red 3, among other substances, in food effective January 1, 2027
