Strengthening Wastewater Testing for Southeast Asia’s Textile and Apparel Supply Chains
The ZDHC Foundation has approved Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services Vietnam (BVCPS) under the Wastewater & Sludge (WW&S) Guidelines V2, recognizing the laboratory’s ability to conduct wastewater and sludge testing under the updated requirements. BVCPS Vietnam was among the first laboratories in the Bureau Veritas network to receive approval under the new framework.
The updated WW&S Guidelines V2 introduce stricter requirements for solution providers, including expanded ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation expectations and tighter controls on subcontracted testing. The changes are designed to improve the consistency, transparency, and technical reliability of wastewater testing across global supply chains.
For manufacturers, brands, and facilities participating in ZDHC Programmes, the transition to V2 is an important step toward greater confidence in wastewater performance data and more effective environmental monitoring. The new requirements place greater emphasis on laboratories’ internal expertise and direct testing capabilities, rather than reliance on subcontractors.
To meet these requirements, BVCPS Vietnam expanded its testing capabilities, extended its ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation scope, and strengthened laboratory resources and internal processes. These efforts enabled the laboratory to receive approval ahead of the new Guidelines’ implementation date.

The approval also strengthens BVCPS Vietnam’s ability to provide wastewater and sludge testing services across Southeast Asia. Under the approval campaign materials developed with ZDHC, the laboratory will provide WW&S V2 testing services to customers throughout the region, helping manufacturers meet changing environmental and sustainability requirements.
As supply chains face greater scrutiny from regulators, brands, and other stakeholders, reliable wastewater testing and environmental data are essential to demonstrating compliance and supporting sustainability performance. The transition to WW&S Guidelines V2 reflects the industry’s focus on improving testing quality, data integrity, and transparency across the manufacturing value chain.
