Enforcement Trends
• The product category with the highest number of notices was Food & Herbal Supplements, which accounted for 53% of all notices this quarter. Of those, the notices were: 527 for lead, 75 for cadmium, 57 for two or more chemicals, 10 for one or more PFAS chemical (PFOA/PFOS/PFNA), and 5 for mercury.
• Bisphenol S (BPS) in receipt paper, stickers and packaging materials accounted for 19% of all notices this quarter.
• Chemical Trends:
o 62% of all notices were for metals: 665 for lead, 76 for cadmium, 65 for two or more metals, and 8 for mercury.
o 19% of all notices were for BPA/BPA
• Additional PFAS note: There were 61 notices for PFOA/PFOS/PFNA.
