California Proposition 65 Settlements

The following is a summary of California Proposition 65 settlements recently finalized that involve consumer products.

Cases of Folding Bike Covers and Thermoelectric Throws; and
Kids Clothing with Plastic Components

•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) DEHP 
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Sport Armband
•    Requirement
    o    No detectable DINP (Reporting limit: 50 ppm)
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Dual Storage and Smartphone Bags;
Notebooks / Mobile Phone Holders; and
Suitcases / Luggage and its Accessory Items with Plastic Components

•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) DINP
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Boat Buckle Tie-Downs
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) DIDP
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Recharge Hose
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) DBP
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Witch Hats - Halloween Costume
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP, BBP and DINP)
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Chair Covers; Clotheslines; Homework Holders / Folders with PVC Components;
Pet Rain Slickers; Vinyl Air Conditioner Exterior Covers;
Jump Ropes and Exercise Handle Grips; Jackets / Coats and Raincoats

•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DnHP)
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Hair Accessories / Headbands Set
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 100 ppm (0.01%) total Lead
    o    Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Leather Footwear
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 2 ppm extractable Chromium
    o    Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Cable Locks
•    Requirement
    o    Vinyl plastic: No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DnHP)
    o    Non-vinyl plastic: No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP and DINP)
    o    Or utilize a warning statement

Vinyl / PVC Cases for Manicure Set; and
Photo Albums

•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP, and DnHP)
    o    Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Duffle Bags
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP and DINP)
    o    Warning label cannot be used as an alternative to meet the requirement

Hair Accessories Kits / Headbands
•    Requirement
    o    No more than 1000 ppm (0.1%) for each phthalate (DEHP, DBP and DINP)
    o    Or utilize a warning statement
