National Taiwan University of
Technology has received
IEC 62443-2-4 Certification
with the Assistance of Bureau Veritas
The National Taipei University of Technology's AI Digital Transformation Research Center ("AIDTRC") has received the IEC 62443-2-4 International Cybersecurity Certification for Industrial Automation and Control Systems ("ICAS") with the assistance of Bureau Veritas in May 2023.
IEC 62443 is widely adopted as the most important standard for industrial automation, and it is becoming increasingly important as IT and OT technologies become more integrated. The development of next-generation Industrial Internet of Things ("IIoT") systems necessitates the incorporation of network security, endpoint protection, and reliability considerations that will be relevant for the devices' 10-20 year life cycles.
The center will incorporate certification experience into the curriculum, providing students with practical knowledge of IEC 62443-2-4, security concepts, and technologies. The AIDTRC director emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary teams working together to put IEC 62443-2-4 principles into practice, participate in security assessments and risk analysis, and follow industry best practices to create a safer OT network system.
Professor Yenlin Chen from the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, National Taipei University emphasized the importance of academia-industry collaboration to gain practical experience in industrial control cybersecurity certification. AIDTRC's IoT Cloud Computing Platform and Digital Information Service provide directions for collaboration with the industry to promote internships, research projects, and academia-industry collaboration. NTUT students engaging in industrial control fields are expected to be competent in the workplace.
Pascal Le Ray, General Manager of Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Service, Technology Products Business Line in Taiwan, has expressed his appreciation for the opportunity of academia-industry collaboration with NTUT. Bureau Veritas is committed to supporting academia-industry collaboration and practicing the core spirit of corporate social responsibility. As the IT industry continues to evolve rapidly, technological innovation, resource integration, and talent will remain essential components of sustainable business operations.
